Zoo Music: 15 Miniatures

Zoo Music: 15 Miniatures scored for fifteen movements, this charming suite of piano music was originally intended as a chamber music piece but was left to be re-scored for solo piano, when its vast register explorations and extremes, as well as its idiomatic keyboard passagework, made it more fitting as a pared-down solo piano work that the young pianist could enjoy playing (Intermediate Level). Its many movements hint at animalistic qualities and capture the mood and idea of the many Zoo animals, both large and small, fast and slow, quirky and serious. It is a harmonically interesting, sometimes tuneful, and always melodically beautiful collection of short miniature pieces, wonderfully arranged for the budding piano soloist.
