Hole

Hole is a piano solo that was written at The Atlantic Center for the Arts in conjunction with a silent art film that was created of the same title. In one of the most effective and moving projects that have garnered many awards and attention, the music for this piece required a stark background behind which simple three-note patterns under a sparse, slow-moving accompaniment permute and rotate the series of pitch-class sets, making the new areas in which this tumbling strain recurs, familiar and distinct.
