Comedy Film Music Cue [1'00"]

$150.00

‘The Bridesmaid Climbs the Ladder’ this piece uses a more intimate ensemble of only strings, piano, percussion, and bassoon yet still remains interesting for a complete musical cue to take the listener from point A to point B. The pizzicato strings give the added comedic thrust and accompaniment behind quirky bassoon and clarinet solo lines that seem to rise and fall like melodies that have “fall-offs” in a larger jazz piece. Unlike a Henry Mancini score, this cue, however, continues to give added variety and depth of emotions with string glissandos, brief silences that break up the musical flow at key times, and give the necessary humorous punch exactly when needed. Such times are the xylophone playing seconds like cartoon eyelashes blinking on close-up, fast descending clarinet arpeggios, and comedic bassoon grace notes that “walk” up. It concludes with a low bassoon line, and a final pizzicato chord high, that seems to give just the right wink to say “that’s all, folks.” This is a short but substantive piece that relies on silences, timing, and nods to rhythmic punctuations that tip the music forward and back, like someone climbing a ladder unsteadily and struggling, but ultimately, successful.
