Marche, Op. 12, No. 1 (S. Prokofiev), 1.37

Marche, Op. 12, No. 1 (orchestrated November 2007) is a Prokofiev piano piece characteristically balancing his simple melodious charm with the familiar biting dissonances and colorful timbral textures that naturally lend themselves to an orchestral setting, reminiscent of his Love for Three Oranges.  This orchestration for small ensemble provides a chance for younger orchestra musicians to experience new music by the sardonic and audacious Ukrainian composer in this brief miniature character piece.
