I’ll Be Home for Christmas

I’ll Be Home for Christmas (arr. April 2011) is an arrangement of the 1943 song made popular by Bing Crosby for vocalist and orchestra in Eb major, B major and A major beginning with the seldom used verse that introduces the familial chorus, it is structured two and a half times through with an orchestral interlude back to the Bridge.  It’s orchestration makes use of a predominantly String and Brass heavy chordal pad while auxiliary and wind instruments provide soloistic counterlines and together produce a pop-tinged backdrop that echoes a warm, Christmas modern groove that is at once arrestingly modern and yet traditional enough to stay true to the charm of the 1940s War era soldiers who promise to be home for Christmastime.
