31. Talk to Me Sometimes, 2.45

Talk to Me Sometimes (composed December 2011) is a piano solo that is sentimental and cinematic in its orientation. It speaks to the musical language free of recent trends and formulae. At first solidly maintained, the piece is fluid and shifts from meter and tempi within itself, expressing melodic themes without great ornamentation or flourish, but reassesses itself from one section to the next in rooted lyricism and quiet, hushed tones central to the character of the piece and possessing forward, propulsive movement. Maintained by the quiet ineffable pulse, it convincingly draws back and intermittently is thrown off course by subtle changes of meter and phrase length to points of silence and neo-Romantic conceit.
