2. Feru, 4.14

Fèru (composed December 2013) is a brisk orchestral piece, full of protean vigor and gripping in an ever-evolving, minimalistic-influenced fabric, propelled forward by steady inner rhythms and lyrical melodic lines that lend themselves handsomely toward a refreshing blend of contemporary and traditional compositional styles.

Its bright, alive and written with a kind of hip and sophisticated, airy French transparency (Fèru is slang for “cool” or “nice” in English vernacular) and is beguiling in its full orchestral colors. Most impressive, however, is its honesty. Brimming with shimmering textures and buoyant in a joyously energetic immediacy, the music works because it relies on itself, not on extraneous devices or effects.
